Stephenville UFOs

The UFOs flying over Stephenville, TX that were seen by hundreds of residents on more than one occasion are now, reportedly, being called F-16 Fighter Jets. Does anyone else think that this is bullshit? I'm not saying that these UFOs were spaceships with aliens, I'm just saying that its a little suspicious that the Air Force is releasing this report weeks after all the sightings occured. Its almost as if the Air Force had a meeting where they realized they still had no explanation for the sightings and someone said, ah just make something up. Two questions - 1) Do they really think that we are that stupid? And since it always works anyway, 2) Are we that stupid?
